Framed for a crime he didn't commit, the Harlem street tough formerly known as Carl Lucas volunteered himself - in exchange for a chance at parole - as a subject in radical experiments aiming to replicate the super soldier serum that famously created Captain America. Sabotage led to the experiment's destruction, but not before inadvertently bestowing Carl with impossible strength and endurance. In the ensuing chaos Carl Lucas escaped and sought to clear his name, returning to New York where he became the bulletproof Luke Cage: Hero For Hire! Luke lives with his wife - superhero, P.I. and pottymouth Jessica Jones - and their infant daughter Danielle. He is a former member of the Defenders, the New Avengers and the Thunderbolts. He sided with Captain America against the Superhuman Registration Act and is in hetero life-partners with the Immortal Iron Fist. Wears a mean tiara. |
